Report
This years championship attracted a record field of 35 entrants from across the Far North Coast and kept all 5 tables at the Ballina RSL and Bowling Clubs busy until late in the evening. In their fifth match of the day our finalists Brian Green and Jimmy Thomson fought a close battle with Brian ending up on top by 2 frames to 1. Congratulations to this year's champion, Brian Green! Other highlights included: The participation of junior player, Cooper Thomson, in his first senior FNCSA event. Unfortunately Cooper was defeated in the first round but covered himself in glory with his enthusiastic involvement in refereeing subsequent matches and staunch support for his dad, Jimmy, all the way to the end. Jessica Woods attracted a legion of new fans at the Bowling Club. Miss Woods graciously participated in a group photo with the "Sandfly" bowlers and provided autographs to all who requested one. Many thanks to Des Turner for organising the event and to John Stoker for his tireless efforts from early in the day until late making sure the Ballina facilities were available at a very high standard. |
